Brazil FTO Biodynamic Chapada Diamantina comes to us from our friends at Royal Coffee in Emeryville, CA. Hailing from Ibicoara, Bahia in southeastern Brazil. This coffee is produced a family owned farm called Fazenda Floresta. This is what Royal has this to say about them:

“BRAZIL ORGANIC CHAPADA DIAMANTINA PULPED NATURAL BIODYNAMIC ECOTACT is sourced from Fazenda Floresta. A family owned farm operating in the state of Bahia, Brazil near the Chapada Diamantina National Park, known for its mountainous cliff formations (chapada) and 19th century diamond mining (diamantina). Coffee is biodynamically cultivated, which is a holistic approach to agriculture where the farm is managed as an interconnected organism that generates its own fertility through diverse cover-cropping and the integration of manure from livestock raised on the farm. Biodynamic goes beyond organic practices including applications of homeopathically treated compost based on the rhythms of nature.”

On the cupping table, this coffee checked all the boxes of a well processed Brazilian natural; prominent notes of chocolate and nut butter, excellent notes of butterscotch and dried plum. Roasted a little darker than our other single-origin coffees, this medium-dark roast shines in French press or filtered drip methods and pairs wonderfully with cream. Robust and comforting, this delicious Brazil provides a familiar flavor profile which is well suited for drinking day in and day out. We know you’re going to like it.
