Brazil Organic Fazenda Córrego da Limeira comes to us via our good importer friends at Royal Coffee in Emeryville, CA. This coffee was grown on Paulo Augusto Correia’s estate, Fazenda Córrego da Limeira, which is located in the Matas de Minas subregion of Minas Gerias, a state in southwestern Brazil. Royal has this to say of Paulo’s farm and region:

“The estate consists of 331 acres from which 261 acres are planted with coffee within the micro-region of Matas de Minas, which has received praise in recent years for the production of specialty coffee. At Fazenda Córrego da Limeira, the coffee primarily dries in the sun on patios and then finished in mechanical dryers to ensure consistent moisture levels are reached. Fazenda Córrego da Limeira produces 3500 bags of coffee a year.”

Our trader at Royal, John Cossette, said that this coffee is “massively floral and fruity, a real divergence from the typical Brazil profile.” We couldn’t agree more, but for us, the incredible balance of Pedro’s coffee is what made it truly stand out. The lovely high notes of fruit jam and baking spice are complemented by base notes of cocoa and almond butter, and it’s the combination of these elements which makes the coffee from Organic Fazenda Córrego da Limeira so extremely delicious. This medium roasted coffee performs wonderfully in all brewing methods but tastes best as a filtered drip or single origin espresso. We’re thrilled to have another delicious natural Brazil on our menu this year, and we think you’ll dig it too.
